Structure before decoration
We work out what the site needs to say, who it needs to reassure, and what action visitors should take. That gives the design something useful to solve.
KieranCR Web Services, by Critical Red Ltd
I am Kieran Cripps, an independent developer in the UK. I make considered websites for small businesses, photographers and independent people, then stay around to host and maintain them.
Web services
You deal directly with the person doing the design, development and technical work. The scope stays clear, the build stays maintainable, and there is a named person to call after launch.
We work out what the site needs to say, who it needs to reassure, and what action visitors should take. That gives the design something useful to solve.
The visual design and the build are handled as one job, so responsive behaviour, accessibility and performance are considered from the start.
I can manage deployment, SSL, backups, updates, small changes and day-to-day support, or hand everything over cleanly if you prefer.
Selected work
Client project / Live site
A portfolio for a street photographer, presented as an exhibition rather than a thumbnail dump. Behind it sits an admin panel built for this site alone: the photographer uploads, captions and files their own work, and the home page rotates itself.
Art direction and image-led layout, plus the admin panel that keeps the site the client's to run.
Design and back-end handled by one person, so the editing tools fit the site instead of the site fitting a template.
Live and in daily use, with the photographer adding new work themselves.
After launch
Managed care is available for clients who want the hosting, maintenance and small ongoing jobs handled. There is no mystery dashboard and no support queue: you contact me.
Deployment, domain connection, SSL and a hosting setup suited to the site.
Routine maintenance and a recovery plan, so the site is not one bad update from trouble.
A direct route for content edits, new pages and practical improvements as the site evolves.
One named person who already knows the site when a question or problem comes up.
How I work
You do not need to arrive with a perfect brief. We can turn a rough idea, an old site or a folder of content into a sensible scope together.
Goals, audience, pages, content, practical constraints and what happens after launch.
A visual and structural route you can respond to before the whole site is built.
Responsive implementation, content population, device checks and launch preparation.
A clean handover or ongoing managed care, agreed before the site goes live.
About
Kieran Cripps / Developer and director
I run KieranCR Web Services through Critical Red Ltd, where I am a director. I enjoy the point where visual judgement and practical engineering meet: making something feel right, then making sure it keeps working.
I keep projects direct and understandable. If a simple static build is the right answer, that is what I will recommend. If the site needs an editor, an admin tool or managed hosting, I can handle that too.
Useful answers
Yes. A project can cover planning, design, development, launch, hosting and ongoing care. If you only need part of that, the scope can be smaller.
Often. I will first review what is there and tell you whether it is sensible to improve and maintain it, or whether rebuilding would be the better use of your budget.
If you need to, yes. I can provide a straightforward editing setup or a focused admin tool. A site that rarely changes may be better kept simpler.
A rough description of the business or project, what the website needs to do, anything that already exists, and any deadline or budget range you are working with.
New website, redesign or managed care
A short outline is enough. I will come back with useful questions and an honest view of the next step.
